FIVE STUDENT TEAMS WERE AWARDED WITHIN THE NATIONAL FINAL OF GREENOVATION CHALLENGE

Students from the National College of Informatics Piatra Neamt, Theoretical High School Ioan Pascu Codlea and O.C. Tăslăuanu High School Topliţa have proposed the best projects of sustainable development for mountain communities, within a national competition for innovation in environmental sustainability.

"It was a beautiful experience that taught us to work and communicate in teams and distribute tasks. In any step of this project I learned something, and based on the advice and feedback from the volunteers experts we were motivated to think deeper, to look at things differently and thus find solutions. We are glad that our project was selected as the winner and our ambition is to continue and also participate in other projects.", shared Team VAM team from National College of Informatics Piatra Neamt.

The winning teams proposed the following solutions:
• Wonderland Map (National College of Informatics Piatra Neamt, coordinating teacher Fronea Mariana) is an application for smartphones and other devices for safe and interactive exploration of tourist areas around the Ceahlau Mountain.
• Biomass resources, the future (National College Piatra Neamt, coordinating teacher Mormocea Dorina) is a business that aims to produce fuels from biomass. Biomass includes a wide range of materials such as wood, agricultural and technical plants grown for use as a source of energy, agricultural and forestry residues and waste from forestry and agriculture, but also those in households and farms.
• Pyramid - more than a sacred place (High School O.C. Tăslăuanu Topliţa, coordinating teacher Antal Melia) is a project that aims to use the intelligent form of pyramids for storing fruits and vegetables in a state as fresh for a longer period.
• Save the forest! (Ioan Pascu High School Codlea, coordinating teacher Iaru Mihaela) aims to stop the process of trees cutting from areas surrounding the city Codlea, by raising awareness and active involvement of the local community.
• The school guides (O.C. Tăslăuanu High School Topliţa, coordinating teacher Antal Melia) is a project which aims to involve citizens in protecting and enhancing the natural and cultural heritage, which can accumulate income for the local community without adversely affect the natural landscape.

Students who have worked in these projects and will pass the interview stage in English will participate together with students from Norway to the international stage of the project, bilateral educational event Greenovation Camp.

"The second National Final held within the project Greenovation Challenge was particularly interesting due to the very good project proposals developed and the presentation of the participating teams, which proves that the younger generation wants to get involved and find solutions to real and sustainable problems identified in the communities they come from. Congratulations to all involved! " said Radu Adrian Rey, volunteer Romontana
